ABOUT BIDS IN SCOTLAND

here are currently 25 operational BIDs in Scotland with a further 23 in development, all supported by Scottish Government. The areas are not just restricted to town and city centres, they also encompass commercial or industrial districts, rural areas, agriculture or single sector businesses, all of whom wish to improve collectively their business environment.

BIDs are not a substitute for central or local government investment, but, by working together with key authorities, BID companies can develop or enhance projects that will benefit the local economy. By working and investing collectively, BID companies will influence the decisions of policy makers in Scotland and make budgets work harder and smarter in this tough economic climate.

ABOUT BIDS IN SCOTLAND

BID companies are developed and managed with the finances generated by the compulsory BID Levy, which is calculated on the rateable value of each individual business. Each BID Company has a fixed life term of no more than five years. After this time, they can be either dissolved or seek a new mandate via a renewal ballot.
